How to Navigate to the Inventory Screen?

  • Select the Products and Inventory Menu:
    • In the Inventory Menu Column, Click on Inventory

What is the Inventory Screen?

  • To review all Amazon inventory-related product attributes in one consolidated view
  • To assess current stock, inbound quantities, and reserved inventory in real time
  • To understand the age distribution of inventory, enabling aging stock management
  • To forecast stock-out dates using configurable sales velocities
  • To calculate optimal reorder dates and quantities based on demand and lead time
  • To estimate reorder capital requirements and profitability tied to existing inventory

Hints And Tips!

  • The primary data source for this screen is Amazon’s ‘Inventory Health’ report (SellerCentral: Reports → Inventory → Inventory Health)
  • Reorder calculations are done per SKU per marketplace; SellerLegend does not yet aggregate at parent ASIN or cross-marketplace level (feature in roadmap)
  • Inventory data is retrieved from Amazon every 8 hours, and the last retrieval is time-stamped next to the page title
  • Inventory rows are grouped by marketplace; one product may appear multiple times if sold in more than one region
  • The “Amazon Marketplace Selector” (top right, Amazon icon) controls which marketplaces are shown
  • Hidden products are excluded from this screen until re-enabled on the Products screen via the Actions menu

  • For example, product A is sold in DE, UK, and IT. Say that DE holds 10 units, UK 22 units and IT 6 units. Amazon will show 38 units (10+22+6) available in EACH of DE, UK, and IT.

🔍 Key Insights & How To Derive Them

1. Stockout Risk

  • Insight: Which products are at imminent risk of going out of stock?

  • Rule:

    • Days of Inventory Left < Restock Lead Time

    • AND In Transit + In Warehouse not enough to bridge the gap

  • Follow-up: Check if a reorder has already been scheduled. Use Recommended Reorder Date and Quantity to take action.

2. Overstock / Capital Drain

  • Insight: Which products tie up the most capital but have slow turnover?

  • Rule:

    • Inventory Tied Cost is high

    • Velocity is low (e.g. < 0.2/day)

    • Age Level ≥ 3 (i.e. oldest stock band is 181+ days)

  • Follow-up: Run promotions, reprice, or consider liquidation.

3. Profitability vs. Exposure

  • Insight: Which products yield poor returns relative to the cost tied up?

  • Rule:

    • Estimated Profit Per Unit is low or negative

    • AND Total Cash Value is low relative to Inventory Tied Cost

  • Follow-up: Audit COGS, check for FBA overcharges, reduce PPC spending.

4. Phantom Inventory / Misleading Stock Visibility

  • Insight: Is Amazon showing inflated inventory across regions?

  • Rule:

    • Compare Local Inventory (actual) vs what Amazon shows in seller central

    • If Local Inventory differs from In Stock in other marketplaces → review cross-marketplace duplication logic

5. Inventory Aging & Long-Term Storage Fees Risk

  • Insight: What inventory is likely to incur Amazon’s long-term storage fees (LTSF)?

  • Rule:

    • Age Level = 4 or 5

    • AND Velocity is very low or Out of Stock Days = 0 (i.e., always in stock but not selling)

  • Follow-up: Consider removal orders or liquidation.

6. Refund Risk & Product Quality Flags

  • Insight: Are there products with high refund rates indicating quality issues?

  • Rule:

    • Refund % > 5–10%

    • AND Unsellable inventory is non-zero

  • Follow-up: Audit customer feedback, review prep/packaging, investigate supplier defects.

7. Inbound Stock Planning Gap

  • Insight: Are any fast-moving products lacking incoming replenishment?

  • Rule:

    • Velocity is high (e.g. > 5/day)

    • Inbound = 0

    • AND Days of Inventory Left < 10

  • Follow-up: Prioritize PO or expedite shipments.

8. Manual Data vs System Estimates Conflict

  • Insight: Are your manually entered In Transit or In Warehouse values still accurate?

  • Rule:

    • Days of Inventory Left includes external stock

    • BUT actual shipments have already arrived or were cancelled

  • Follow-up: Regularly audit manual stock inputs. Overreliance can give false reorder comfort.
