How Do I Assign Tags to Products?

3 views 0

❓ What Are Product Tags?

Product Tags let you classify items using free-form, searchable keywords. This helps you organize products and quickly filter or search them across SellerLegend. You can also use them to create collections of products.

  • Example: Tag all items from a past season as “2024 Season”.

  • Tags can span across brands and marketplaces.

  • Searching “2024 Season” in the Omni-Search bar or in screen filters (if your search requires more than one tag to be searched) will show all tagged products (and their orders).

  • Products can have unlimited tags, and one tag can apply to many products.

🛠️ How to Assign Tags

  1. Go to Products and Inventory → Products List.

  2. Find the product using the Omni-Search box, or the screen field filters if you have a list of products to tag

  3. Select all the products by clicking on the tick box on the column names bar

  4. Click on the cogwheel in the column names bar, just before ‘Product’

  5. In the Product Details screen, scroll down to Product Grouping.

  6. In the Tags field, type your tags → press Enter after each tag, or use commas to separate tags instead.

  7. To remove a tag, click the × next to it.

💡 Hints & Tips

  • Tags are defined at the account level.

  • Guests who lack access to certain accounts/marketplaces won’t see tags, even if the tag names appear in dropdowns or filters.

🔍 Tags vs. Product Groups — What’s the Difference?

While both Tags and Product Groups help organize products, they serve different purposes:

Feature Tags 🏷️ Product Groups 📦
Structure Free-form keywords Predefined groupings set in settings
Flexibility Unlimited, ad-hoc, can cross brands/marketplaces Fixed structure, often tied to business reporting
Use Case Quick classification (e.g., “2024 Season”, “Clearance”) Formal grouping (e.g., “Supplements”, “Kitchenware”)
Search/Filter Can filter across multiple screens and orders Used in dashboards, reporting, and analysis
Management Assigned directly at the product level Defined in Product Groups Settings screen

👉 Think of Tags as lightweight, flexible labels, while Product Groups are structured, formal categories used in reporting.
