💡TL;DR
Amazon doesn’t provide full pricing, fee, or discount information for orders that are still in Pending status. SellerLegend fills in these blanks using estimates from your product listing and Amazon’s Product API. These placeholders are shown in red italics. Once the order ships, Amazon sends the full financial details and SellerLegend updates the order automatically.
📦 It’s Not Us, Sir! Honest!
SellerLegend does report on Pending Orders — but there’s a catch.
While an order remains in Pending status, Amazon does not send the actual item price, discount amounts, or fees. These only become available once the order transitions to Shipped.
To bridge this data gap, SellerLegend uses:
- The product listing price (as shown in your catalog)
- Estimated fees from Amazon’s Product API (via the Fee Preview endpoint)
This allows you to see something instead of a blank, but it’s important to understand that these are placeholders.
You can easily identify Pending orders in the Orders screen — prices and fees for these will appear in red italics, as opposed to the black regular text used for confirmed shipped orders.
🤷 Why the Fee Estimates May Be Off
There are situations where the fee estimates from Amazon’s Product API are inaccurate. This can result in fees being:
- Too high
- Too low
- Missing entirely
This happens because the accuracy of fee estimates depends on having a fully configured product listing — especially the item’s shipping weight. If this is missing or invalid, Amazon may not return any fee estimate at all.
This issue originates from Amazon’s own systems and affects some sellers intermittently. Most of the time, the Fee Preview is correct — but not always.
🎯 Promotions and Discounts
Amazon doesn’t report discount amounts or promo codes on Pending orders. As a result:
-
SellerLegend sets the discount percentage to zero until the final data arrives
-
Promo unit counts on the dashboard may appear lower than expected for very recent orders (e.g., Today, Yesterday)
🎯 When the Order Ships, Accuracy Returns
As soon as an order ships, Amazon provides the full breakdown:
- Final item price
- Actual fees charged
- Any discounts or promotions applied
SellerLegend automatically replaces any placeholder values with this verified financial data. You’ll see the red italics disappear, replaced with black confirmed values.
🧠Hints & Tips
- If you notice missing fee estimates, check that your product listing includes a valid shipping weight.
- While an order is Pending, discounts are not visible, so SellerLegend cannot calculate promo percentages.
- This may affect the Promo Units count for recent periods (e.g. Today, Yesterday), since SellerLegend does not infer promos from promo codes alone.
- Once the order is shipped and the discount amount is known, promo percentages are updated, and promo unit counts adjust accordingly.
